By adjusting timing on the flash tune you could drive the DME to focus on incredibly aggressive timing and experience the knock sensors. The stock DME with the piggyback simply just won't make it possible for that to happen. In such cases, the flash tune with more aggressive timing will most likely produce a bit extra energy.
